Origin: A borrowing from Spanish. Etymon: Spanish quebrada.
Etymology: < Spanish quebrada gully, ravine (1351), in American Spanish also stream (1607, in Panama), use as noun of feminine past participle of quebrar to break ( < classical Latin crepāre : see crepitate v.).
