Etymology: < pyridox- (in pyridoxine n.) + -ic suffix.
Biochemistry.
pyridoxic acid n. (more fully 4-pyridoxic acid) a biologically inactive compound which is the form in which excess vitamin B6 (see pyridoxine n.) is usually excreted.Pyridoxic acid is derived from pyridoxine by oxidation of the 4-hydroxymethyl group to a carboxyl group.
