Origin: Formed within English, by compounding; modelled on a German lexical item. Etymons: pyelo- comb. form, -graphy comb. form.
Etymology: < pyelo- comb. form + -graphy comb. form, after German Pyelographie (F. Voelcker & A. Lichtenberg 1906, in Münchener med. Wochenschr. 16 Jan. 105). Compare French pyélographie (1921 or earlier; < German).
Medicine.
Radiological examination of the kidney and ureter, esp. using a radio-opaque contrast material injected either intravenously or into the renal pelvis or ureter; an instance of this.
