Etymology: < post-classical Latin punctorius (12th cent. in a British glossarial source; 1631 in dolor punctorius punctorious pain; < classical Latin punctum (see point n.1) + -ōrius -ory suffix2) + -ous suffix. Compare post-classical Latin punctorium piercing instrument (3rd cent.). Compare slightly earlier punctory adj.
Obsolete. rare.
Characterized by pricking or prickling; (also) of the nature of or tending to effect a puncture. Cf. punctory adj.
