Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin pulverulentus.
Etymology: < classical Latin pulverulentus covered with dust, dusty, resembling specks of dust, gritty < pulver- , pulvis pulver n. + -ulentus -ulent suffix. In sense 3 after French pulvérateur, adjective (see Pulveratores n.). Compare Italian polverulento (1521 as †pulverulento in sense 1, 1610 in sense 2).
