Etymology: < post-classical Latin pulveraceus (1803 or earlier in botanical use; < classical Latin pulver- , pulvis pulver n. + -āceus : see -aceous suffix) + -ous suffix. Compare earlier pulverulent adj.
Chiefly Botany. Now rare.
Covered or appearing to be covered with powder; mealy.
