Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: Latin pulmōn- , pulmō , -i- connective.
Etymology: < classical Latin pulmōn-, pulmō lung (see pulme n.) + -i- connective. Compare pulmo- comb. form, pulmono- comb. form.Found in a small number of formations exemplified below, both of which have parallels in pulmo- comb. form. Combining with second elements ultimately of Greek and Latin origin.

pulmonibranchiate adj. and n. Obsolete rare (a) adj.= pulmobranchiate adj.; (b) n.a pulmonate gastropod mollusc.Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
