Origin: A borrowing from Gujarati. Etymon: Gujarati pagī.
Etymology: < Gujarati pagī thief-catcher (probably obsolete) < pāg pug n.3 + ( < Sanskrit -ika, suffix forming agent nouns).
Anglo-Indian. Now rare.
In South Asia: a tracker of animals or people.
