Etymology: < psalm n. + -ic suffix. Compare Byzantine Greek ψαλμικός in a psalm, of the nature of a psalm, post-classical Latin psalmicus in the form of a psalm (9th cent. in a British source), French psalmique relating to psalms (1824). Compare earlier psalmodic adj.
Of, relating to, or having the character of a psalm or psalms; psalmodic.
