Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin abnodat-, abnodare.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin abnodat-, past participial stem (see -ate suffix3) of abnodare, former reading (e.g. in 16th-cent. editions of Columella) for classical Latin adnōdāre to cut (a shoot) right back < ad- ad- prefix + nōdus node n.
Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
