Etymology: Either < Middle French provigneur (c1320 in Old French as provignerre ; French †provigneur ) < provignier provine v. + -eur -eur suffix (compare -our suffix), or directly < provine v. + -our suffix.
Obsolete. rare.
A person who propagates or disseminates something. Cf. provine v.
