1965 C. Shuttleworth Malayan Safari vi. 77 A rare and colourful ceremony known as the Puja Pantai, it is performed by Malay fishermen when they believe that the sea gods are angry with them and need to be propitiated.

1972 M. Sheppard Taman Indera 197 The general name which incorporated all the ceremonies and offerings on such an occasion [sc. a Malay folk festival] was Puja Pantai.

2000 New Straits Times (Malaysia) (Nexis) 27 Feb. 2 The original practice was pre-Islamic and we created an Islamic element to it where there was none before. The same with Puja Pantai.
