释义 | pseudoprostyleadj.n. Classical Architecture. rare. Designating or relating to a portico having a projection less than the space between its columns. Occasionally as n.: a portico in this style. ΚΠ 1842 W. Hosking in Encycl. Britannica III. 469/2 Pseudo-prostyle... This is a term not in general use, but is suggested to designate a portico projecting less than the space from one column to another, as the western porticoes to St. Paul's Cathedral, and the portico to the East India House, in London; but that they are recessed also, and therefore may be described as pseudo-prostyle and recessed. 1881 Dict. Archit. (Archit. Publ. Soc.) Pseudoprostyle, a portico projecting less than an intercolumniation; a term used by Hosking. 1999 J. S. Curl Dict. Archit. 523/1 Pseudoprostyle describes a prostyle temple without a pronaos, the portico colonnade set closer than an intercolumniation from or engaged with the cella wall behind.
