Etymology: < pseudo- comb. form + dominance n.
Genetics.
Originally: the apparent dominance of a recessive allele in a heterozygote resulting from the deletion (or inactivation) of all or part of the chromosome bearing the dominant allele. Later (now usually): the appearance of a recessive trait in successive generations of a family, resulting from matings between homozygotes and heterozygotes.
