Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: pseudo- comb. form, cyst n.
Etymology: < pseudo- comb. form + cyst n. With sense 1 compare German Pseudocyste (1852 or earlier). With sense 2 compare French pseudokyste (1875 or earlier).
1. Medicine. A cyst-like cavity or space lacking the (usually epithelial) lining of a true cyst.
