Etymology: < accommodate v. + -or suffix. Compare post-classical Latin accommodator (in an undated inscription as an occupational term; 1260 in a British source in sense ‘lender’), French accommodeur (c1660 in sense ‘person who arranges another person's clothes or dresses his or her hair’; 17th or 18th cent. in sense ‘reconciler’).
