单词 properate
释义

properatev.

Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin properāt-, properāre.
Etymology: < classical Latin properāt-, past participial stem (see -ate suffix3) of properāre to hasten, hurry, to cause to act or function speedily, to cause to come or go quickly, to cause to occur quickly (see note). Compare earlier properation n., properant adj.Classical Latin properāre has usually been derived < properus quick, hurried, (of actions, events) early, speedy, of uncertain origin. It has also been suggested that the verb is original and represents an intensive formation < pro- pro- prefix1 + the stem of parere to produce, bring forth, beget (see parent n.).
