Etymology: < proglottis n. (see -id suffix2), originally after German Proglottide (1878 in the passage translated in quot. 1878 at main sense).
Zoology.
Any of the distinct segments forming the trunk or strobila of an adult tapeworm, each bearing a complete set of reproductive organs and often breaking away from the body after fertilization.
