Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French prononcé.
Etymology: < French prononcé emphasized, strongly marked (second half of the 17th cent. with reference to contours and forms in painting and other fine arts; first half of the 18th cent. with reference to behaviour and traits of character; end of the 18th cent. with reference to facial or other bodily features), use as adjective of past participle of prononcer pronounce v. N.E.D. (1908) gives only the non-naturalized pronunciation (pronōṅse) /prɔnɔ̃se/.
Now rare.
