Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French procureuse.
Etymology: < French procureuse wife of an attorney (1494 in Middle French), feminine form corresponding to procureur procureur n. In sense 2 after procure v.; compare earlier procuress n. 2, procureur n. 3.Not fully naturalized in English. O.E.D. Suppl. (1982) gives only the non-naturalized pronunciation (proküröz) /prɔkyrøz/.
