Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin psychrolūtēs.
Etymology: < classical Latin psychrolūtēs bather in cold water < ancient Greek ψυχρολουτεῖν to bathe in cold water ( < ψυχρο- psychro- comb. form + λούειν lave v.1); compare -της , suffix forming agent nouns. Compare ancient Greek ψυχρολουσία bathing in cold water. Compare earlier psychrolutist n.
