Origin: A variant or alteration of another lexical item. Etymon: before prep.
Etymology: As preposition, alteration of before prep. after forrow prep. As adverb, alteration of before adv., originally after forrow adv., aforrow adv., but in recent use probably for the purposes of rhyme (with Yarrow, the name of a village in the Scottish Borders).
