Usually with the. A genre or style of literature in which the text is written partly in prose and partly in verse.

1926 Speculum 1 167 Perhaps the most graceful and artistic use of the prosimetrum in modern times has been made by Dante..in the Vita Nuova.
1958 Jrnl. Amer. Musicol. Soc. 11 164/2 The complex of versus and prosa is a miniature replica of that genre known as prosimetrum, in which sections of prose and meter alternate. The most famous example of this genre is of course the De consolatione philosophiae of Boethius.
