Etymology: < French acclimatement (1801) < acclimater acclimate v. + -ment -ment suffix. Compare earlier acclimation n., and also acclimature n., acclimatation n., acclimatization n. N.E.D. (1884) gives the pronunciation as (ăkləi·mĕtmĕnt) /əˈklaɪmətmənt/.
Obsolete.
The condition of being acclimatized; habituation or adaptation to climate or environment. Also: an instance of this. Cf. acclimatization n.
