单词 precisely
释义

preciselyadv.

Brit. /prᵻˈsʌɪsli/, U.S. /priˈsaɪsli/, /prəˈsaɪsli/
Forms: see precise adv. and adj. and -ly suffix2; also Middle English precisly, 1500s percysly, 1500s precysly, 1500s presislie; Scottish pre-1700 precislie, pre-1700 precisly, pre-1700 precyslie, pre-1700 presislie, pre-1700 presyslie.
Origin: Perhaps of multiple origins. Apparently a borrowing from French; modelled on a Latin lexical item. Or perhaps a borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element; modelled on a Latin lexical item. Etymons: French precise ; Latin praecīsus , -ly suffix2.
Etymology: Apparently < either Middle French precise or its etymon classical Latin praecīsus precise adj. + -ly suffix2, after classical Latin praecīsē precise adv. and Anglo-Norman precisément (a1377 or earlier) and Middle French precisement (1314 in Old French; French précisément ). Compare precise adv., and later precise adj. and discussion at that entry.
