In the specific uses in Semitic grammar after post-classical Latin praeformativus (1654 or earlier, originally and chiefly in grammars of Semitic languages); compare German Präformativum (1751 or earlier), (now usually) Präformativ (1791 or earlier), nouns, präformativ , adjective (1788 or earlier).
