Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin praenuntiativus.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin praenuntiativus announcing beforehand, prophetic (c400 in Augustine) < classical Latin praenuntiāt- , past participial stem of praenuntiāre prenuntiate v. + -īvus -ive suffix. Compare Middle French prénunciatif (1491 in an apparently isolated attestation), prenonciatif (1564 in an apparently isolated attestation).
Obsolete. rare.
That announces in advance; predictive, prophetic.
