Etymology: < classical Latin praecursus anticipation, forestalling < praecurs- , past participial stem of praecurrere to run in front of, precede (see precurrent adj.) + -tus , suffix forming verbal nouns. In modern use frequently punningly after curse n. (or perhaps re-formed independently, < pre- prefix + curse n., punningly after precursor n., precursory adj.).
