Etymology: < post-classical Latin -hedricus (in e.g. octahedricus octahedric adj.) < -hedrum (see -hedron comb. form) + -icus -ic suffix.Formations are found from the late 18th cent., e.g. polyhedric adj., rhombohedric adj., octahedric adj., after nouns in -hedron comb. form. Compare -hedrical , formations in which are found from the 17th cent., e.g. octahedrical adj., polyhedrical adj. Compare also -hedral comb. form.
