Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin postscrībere.
Etymology: < classical Latin postscrībere to write after, add in writing (Tacitus) < post- post- prefix + scrībere to write (see scribe n.1). Compare earlier postscript n.1, and also earlier prescribe v. 8.
Now rare.
1. transitive. To write (something) afterwards, to add (something further) in writing; to write as a postscript or appendix.
