Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin Acrita.
Etymology: < scientific Latin Acrita (see Acrita n.). Compare acritan adj. N.E.D. (1884) gives the pronunciation as (æ·krit) /ˈækrɪt/.
Zoology. Obsolete.
Designating primitive invertebrates belonging to the group Acrita (see Acrita n.); of, relating to, or characteristic of these animals.
