Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with an English element. Etymons: Greek πόσθη , -tomy comb. form.
Etymology: Irregularly < ancient Greek πόσθη penis, in Hellenistic Greek also foreskin (see posthitis n.) + -tomy comb. form.
Surgery. rare.
Surgical removal of the foreskin; circumcision.
