belimpv.

Forms: 1. Past tense. a. 1st and 3rd singular indicative Old English belomp, Old English–early Middle English belamp, early Middle English bilammp ( Ormulum). b. Plural indicative Old English belumpon, Old English belumpun, Old English belupon (transmission error). 3. Past participle Old English belumpen, early Middle English bilummpenn ( Ormulum), Middle English bylompyn.
Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: be- prefix, limp v.1
Etymology: < be- prefix + limp v.1 Compare i-limp v. and the Germanic verbs cited at limp v.1In Old English a strong verb of Class III; a prefixed form gebelimpan to happen, occur (compare y- prefix) is also attested. belimp v. is considerably more frequent in Old English than unprefixed limp v.1, but i-limp v. is more frequent than either; it is possible that belimp v. is partly an alteration (by prefix substitution) of i-limp v. The strong past tense plural is not attested in Middle English, but compare early Middle English past singular subjunctive belumpe, showing the same stem form (attested only in a late copy of material ostensibly of Old English composition).
Obsolete.
