Etymology: < post-classical Latin practicatus, past participle of practicare to practise as a doctor or lawyer (from 13th cent. in British and continental sources), to perform or act (from c1400 in British sources), to construct (1432 in a British source), to put into practice, enact (from 1440 in British sources), to examine, to direct, govern (15th cent.), to arrange (1517 in a British source), to experiment (1620 in a British source) < practica practic n.1

Only as past participle.

Etymology: < post-classical Latin practicat-, past participial stem (compare -ate suffix3) of practicare (see practicate adj.), after French pratiquer (1547 in Middle French in this sense: see practic v.). Compare Italian praticare (1830 or earlier in this sense; after French). Compare earlier practise v. 13.
Obsolete. rare.
