Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French p.p.c..
Etymology: < French p.p.c., initialism < pour prendre congé in order to take leave (16th cent. or earlier; < pour for + prendre to take (see prend v.) + congé leave of absence (see congee n.2)).
Now rare.
More fully P.P.C. card. A card announcing a person's departure from a town, social event, etc. Also in extended use.
