Origin: A borrowing from Swahili. Etymon: Swahili posho.
Etymology: < Swahili posho daily rations, daily portion of food allocated to a man's wife or a guest < -posha to give rations to.
In East Africa:
1. Daily rations given to soldiers, sailors, labourers, porters on safari, etc.
