Etymology: < Hellenistic Greek πολυπράγματος busy about many things, meddlesome, officious ( < ancient Greek πολυ- poly- comb. form + πραγματ- , πρᾶγμα thing done: see pragmatic adj. and n.) + -ic suffix. Compare slightly earlier polypragmatical adj.
