Etymology: < post-classical Latin porosis (1679 in the passage translated in quot. 1684) < ancient Greek πώρωσις formation of a callus during the healing of a broken bone < πωροῦν to form a callus ( < πῶρος pore n.2) + -ωσις -osis suffix. Compare earlier porotic adj.1
