释义 | poroscopyn. Now chiefly historical. A method of identifying a person from a fingerprint by matching the characteristic pattern of pores on a finger to the marks on the print. ΚΠ 1913 Brit. Med. Jrnl. 2 Aug. 232/2 Another method..used with success in the Police Laboratory at Lyons in France..is called ‘poroscopy’, and is founded on impressions of the pores or orifices of the sweat ducts of the finger pulps, instead of the ridges. 1922 Detective Mag. Nov. 17 One of the most striking instances of the value of this new method of poroscopy was shown in the case of Boudet and Simonin. 1968 Criminologist Nov. 121 Locard studied the distribution of pores on the ridges of the skin and found that they formed characteristic patterns identifiable even on the smallest fragments of a fingerprint. This new technique, which he named ‘poroscopy’, enabled him to solve one of his most amusing cases. 1986 Amer. Jrnl. Archaeol. 90 355/2 Sjöquist..applies the principles of dactyloscopy, poroscopy and edgescopy to the palm-prints preserved on the Linear B tablets.
