Etymology: < ancient Greek ποριστικός able to procure (in Hellenistic Greek also used with reference to mathematical problems; compare discussion at porism n.; < ποριστής person who procures ( < πορίζειν (see porism n.) + -τής , suffix forming agent nouns) + -ικός -ic suffix), after porism n. Compare earlier porismatical adj.
Mathematics.
Relating to a porism, porismatic; having the property of rendering a determinate problem indeterminate.
