Origin: Of multiple origins. Partly a borrowing from Sinhala. Partly a borrowing from Tamil. Etymons: Sinhala punakku; Tamil punnakku.
Etymology: < Sinhala punakku and its etymon Tamil punnakku.
Chiefly in Sri Lanka: an oilcake made from coconut pulp or various kinds of seed, mainly used as animal fodder.
