Etymology: < classical Latin praetextātus wearing the toga praetexta ( < praetexta (see praetexta n.) + -ātus -ate suffix2), in aetās praetextāta the period of a child's life during which the praetexta is worn (Gellius) + -ian suffix.
Roman History. Obsolete. rare.
Of or relating to that period of a child's life during which the praetexta is worn.
