Origin: A borrowing from Sanskrit. Etymon: Sanskrit pradakṣiṇā.
Etymology: < Sanskrit pradakṣiṇā, use as noun (short for pradakṣiṇā kriyā rightwards act) of feminine of pradakṣiṇa (directed) to the right < pra forth + dakṣiṇa (directed) to the right.
Hinduism and Buddhism.
The action of walking clockwise round a person or deity as a mark of respect.
