Origin: A borrowing from Italian. Etymon: Italian porchetta.
Etymology: < Italian porchetta (14th cent.; 1325 as porchecta in sense ‘(female) piglet’) < porco (see pork n.1) + -etta (see -et suffix1).
Cookery.
In Italian cookery: roast suckling pig, typically sliced and served in sandwiches.
