Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin pollinaris.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin pollinaris of or belonging to fine flour (in an undated glossary) < classical Latin pollin- , pollen pollen n. + -āris -ar suffix1. Compare earlier pollinarious adj. N.E.D. (1907) gives the pronunciation as (pǫ·linăɹ) /ˈpɒlɪnə(r)/.
Botany. Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
Mealy; farinose.
