Etymology: < the name of Julius Plücker (1801–68), German mathematician, who introduced the concepts (in sense 1 in J. Plücker Theorie der algebraischen Curven (1839) II. 155–253; in sense 2 in Philos. Trans. (Royal Soc.) 155 (1865) 275).
