Etymology: < classical Latin plūmiped-, plūmipēs having feathers on the feet (in an isolated classical attestation, in the poem translated in quot. a1890; also attested in post-classical Latin) < plūmi- , combining form of plūma plume n. + pēs foot (see -ped comb. form). N.E.D. (1907) indicates the stress as ˈplumiped.
Obsolete. rare.
Having feathered feet. Also as n.: a bird with feathered feet.In quot. a1890 used in figurative context.
