A proprietary name for: a type of television camera tube similar to a vidicon, but in which the photoconductive layer of the signal plate is of lead monoxide. Frequently attributive. ΚΠ 1962 E. F. de Haan in Philips Techn. Rev. 24 58/1 The photoconductive layer consists of vapour-deposited lead monoxide, PbO, and we have therefore called this tube the ‘Plumbicon’. 1971 Physics Bull.
