A genus of nodosaurid dinosaurs characterized by large bony spines that were probably arranged on both sides of the backbone; (also  polacanthus) a dinosaur of this genus.Only known from a partial skeleton from the Wealden of the Isle of Wight, England, and perhaps identical with  Hylaeosaurus, from the Wealden of Sussex.
