pleximetern.

Brit. /plɛkˈsɪmᵻtə/, U.S. /plɛkˈsɪmədər/

Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with an English element; modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: Greek πλῆξις , -meter comb. form2.
Etymology: < Hellenistic Greek πλῆξις stroke, percussion ( < πλήσσειν to strike (see plessimeter n.) + -σις -sis suffix) + -meter comb. form2, after French plessimètre plessimeter n. (although this is first attested slightly later: 1828; compare quot. 1826, and see etymological note at plessimeter n.). Compare Italian plessimetro (1829 in this sense, probably after French; slightly earlier in sense ‘metronome’ (1826)).With the form plexometer compare -o- connective.
